Color Me Night was born of several years of travel in Western and SE Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States. The projection is a glimpse at a body of work that will appear in book format, which is a collection of images, words, memories, and rewritten glories; moments lived under the cover of night when the world goes to sleep, and another one awakens. They are not meant to tell the story of the persons pictured, but rather, narrate the textural memory I formed of certain intervals or events around the time I made the photographs. This is a personal work, and a big departure from my documentary reporting on conflict, human rights and environmental issues, though it’s not an indication that the latter endeavors have ceased.

In conjunction with Anthropographia and Reporters Without Borders (RSF), my multimedia dispatch The Kenyan Crisis will be screened this year during NY Photo Festival on Saturday, May 15 at 8 p.m. at the Brooklyn Bridge Plaza in NYC. I will be present at this event.

March 5 to March 14 2010 : Geneva Film Festival and International Forum on Human Rights.

March 15  2010 : Montreal Human Rights Film Festival.

May 12 to May 16 2010 : Screening at the New York Photo Festival

September 1 to September 31 2010 : Screening in Montreal together with the World Press Photo 2010

I was unable to attend last year’s exhibit in Japan, but here are a few pictures from the two previous shows. In 2007 they showed my photographs from Afghanistan and Iran, as well as some watercolors I made. And in 2008, they exhibited photos from my Kurdish documentary project.
